Makes 10 to 15 Roti


Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of oil
  • 2 cups of hot water
  • 1 heaped teaspoon of margarine

Method

  1. Sprinkle salt over flour and mix. Add oil and stir.
  2. Make a well and add hot water. Stir.
  3. Add margarine and knead well until the dough is smooth.
  4. Cover with a tea towel and let rest for 5 mins.
  5. Roll into a large sausage shape and pinch 10 to 15 pieces off.
  6. Make each piece into a disc shape and roll out using a rolling pin on a floured bench top, rotating with each roll until the roti is the size of a lunch plate.
  7. Grease the hot frying pan with margarine and fry the roti flipping often.
