Mushroom Sauce

Serves 6


Ingredients

  • 500g of button mushrooms
  • 20 to 30g of butter
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh herbs or 1 teaspoon of dried herbs
  • 2 tablespoons of sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons of cream cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. Finely chop half of the mushrooms into small pieces. Chop the other half of the mushrooms into quarters.
  2. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan, add the mushrooms and herbs of your choice. Cook on medium for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the sour cream and cream cheese, stir all together and cook for 3 mins. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Serve on toast, steak or on their own.
  5. VARIATIONS
  6. You can use any type of mushrooms or a mixture of types.
  7. Use your favourite herbs, we like thyme and oregano best in this recipe.
