Korean BBQ (Courtesy of Sejin)

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 2 medium steaks- sirloin or rump
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 2 carrots thinly sliced
  • 250g mushrooms sliced
  • 2 spring onions, sliced (optional)
  • For the marinade
  • 5 tablespoons of soya sauce
  • 2 teaspoons of minced ginger
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 3 tablespoons of water
  • 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons of minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons of sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons of sesame oil
  • Pinch of pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of red pepper powder (optional)

Method

  1. In a large bowl mix all the marinade ingredients together.
  2. Slice the steak thinly and add to the marinade with the other sliced vegetables. Allow to marinade in the fridge for 45 to 60 minutes.
  3. Heat a frying pan or wok to medium-high heat. Use tongs or chopsticks to spread the meat and vegetables around the skillet.
  4. When nice and browned remove to a plate and cover to keep warm while you fry the rest of the steak and vegetables. Throw away the marinade.
  5. Serve warm with rice or lettuce roll ups.
  6. VARIATIONS
  7. You can use any of your favourite flavours in the marinade.
  8. Use seasonal vegetables that are fresh and cheaper.
