Korean BBQ (Courtesy of Sejin)
Serves 4
Ingredients
- 2 medium steaks- sirloin or rump
- 1 onion sliced
- 2 carrots thinly sliced
- 250g mushrooms sliced
- 2 spring onions, sliced (optional)
- For the marinade
- 5 tablespoons of soya sauce
- 2 teaspoons of minced ginger
- 2 tablespoons of honey
- 3 tablespoons of water
- 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar
- 2 teaspoons of minced garlic
- 2 teaspoons of sesame seeds
- 2 tablespoons of sesame oil
- Pinch of pepper
- 1 teaspoon of red pepper powder (optional)
Method
- In a large bowl mix all the marinade ingredients together.
- Slice the steak thinly and add to the marinade with the other sliced vegetables. Allow to marinade in the fridge for 45 to 60 minutes.
- Heat a frying pan or wok to medium-high heat. Use tongs or chopsticks to spread the meat and vegetables around the skillet.
- When nice and browned remove to a plate and cover to keep warm while you fry the rest of the steak and vegetables. Throw away the marinade.
- Serve warm with rice or lettuce roll ups.
- VARIATIONS
- You can use any of your favourite flavours in the marinade.
- Use seasonal vegetables that are fresh and cheaper.
