Gingerbread

Ingredients

  • 125g butter
  • 1/2 cup golden syrup
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons of ground ginger
  • 3 cups of flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180.
  2. Heat butter, golden syrup and brown sugar in the microwave on high for 1 min or until butter is melted. Stir to combine.
  3. Sift flour, cinnamon, ginger, baking soda into a bowl. Stir in the butter mixture, egg and vanilla essence. Press together to form a dough. Cover with plastic wrap and chill for 20 mins.
  4. Knead on a floured surface. Roll out to 5mm and cut into shapes.
  5. Place onto prepared trays and bake for 10 mins. Cool on wire rack.
